Pulford.Measuring 11inches x14inches aproximately these Rank British Trade Ads were produced in the 1950's to promote upcoming films and were similar in appearance to that of a Lobby Card. The artwork that appeared on them represented works by some of the best poster artists at the time.On the reverse of the front art was a synopisis of the film and its prospects.Today they are very collectible due to the striking artwork and their place in cinema history.The Purple Plain is a 1954 British war film directed by Robert Parrish, with Gregory Peck playing a Royal Canadian Air Force pilot serving in the Royal Air Force in the Burma campaign in the closing months of the Second World War, who is battling with depression after having lost his wife to German bombing in London. The film was shot at Pinewood Studios and on location in Ceylon. It was nominated for two BAFTA awards.
